After a tedious process, the "Connecting Citizens" grant application was assembled for the Trout Lake high-speed Internet project in November 2010.

In May of 2011, the application was accepted and approved.

On September 2, 2011, the Trout Lake BC Internet Society was incorporated as a non-profit organization.

With the support of corporations, individuals and volunteers, the project came online in January 2012.  To date, seven businesses and over sixty subscribers have been connected to the service. As expected, a large number of seasonal residents subscribed to TLBCIS during the summer months of 2012.

In 2013, TLBCIS steadily increased the number of subscribers, as positive results of the service filtered through local communities.

Equipment and management software upgrades in 2014 added to the stability and functionality of the Internet service.  The subscriber base is over ninety customers as of November 2014.
